About Me
I’m Fabio Gori, PhD. I Help Orgs To Extract Value From Their Data
Short Bio
Dr. Fabio Gori is a seasoned Data Scientist with expertise in mathematics, machine learning, and bioinformatics. He holds a PhD in Data Science and Bioinformatics from Radboud University, Netherlands, and a Master’s in Mathematics with top honors from the University of Pisa, Italy's premier institution for the subject. Beginning his career as a Junior Researcher in medical mathematics during his MSc, Dr. Gori's doctoral research at Radboud University (NL) focused on computational methods for metagenomic data analysis, at what is the top-ranking computer science department of the country.
Post-PhD, he served as a Research Fellow at the University of Exeter (UK) applying bioinformatics and mathematical modeling to study antibiotic resistance. He then advanced his career in Germany's precision medicine industry and later in the high-tech and consulting sectors in the Netherlands. From 2023, Dr. Gori is a member of SIIAM (Italian Society for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine).
Working in Multiple Situations
Dr. Gori's professional journey is characterized by its international nature, having lived and worked in various countries. This global exposure has equipped him with a unique perspective and a diverse skill set, making him a versatile professional. He is adept at communicating and collaborating with a wide range of professionals, including biologists, physicians, CxOs, engineers, ICT professionals, physicists, and researchers.
Dr. Gori has been leading his own projects since 2008, occasionally leading small teams when other experts were needed. He is accustomed to presenting at conferences and technical boards, demonstrating his excellent communication skills.
Why us?
One of Dr. Gori's unique selling points is his versatility. He combines a strong theoretical background with applied research experience, both in academia and industrial R&D, to develop advanced analytical solutions. His experience spans both small and large companies, corporations, and startups, across multiple cultures and nationalities.
While Dr. Gori specializes in the life sciences domain, his expertise is not limited to this field. He has also worked on manufacturing and telecommunications problems, demonstrating his ability to apply his skills in various sectors. His services are primarily geared towards life sciences (e.g., biotech, diagnostics, pharma, wellness, biomedical R&D), but he also caters to anyone who wants to make the most of their data, even if they are at the beginning of their data journey.
Another of Dr. Gori's unique selling points is his ability to formulate problems effectively. This involves translating a real-life problem into a mathematical problem that can be solved using AI or other quantitative methods. This process requires strong communication skills to interact with domain experts. Dr. Gori is an excellent listener and is adept at asking the right questions to obtain crucial information as quickly as possible. Once the information is acquired, his mathematical background enables him to find the optimal formulation of the problem. A well-formulated problem can save at least 50% of your time.
With a strong academic background, international experience, and a wide range of expertise, Dr. Fabio Gori is well-equipped to provide top-notch data science solutions. Whether you're in the life sciences sector or not, he can help you leverage data to drive your business forward.

Why did I become a consultant?
In my experience, many laboratories are yet to fully harness the potential of digital systems.
-
I've observed instances where valuable experimental results become indecipherable once the experimenter departs the organization.
-
I've seen crucial production data, which could be instrumental for AI applications, being routinely discarded as irrelevant.
-
I've witnessed avoidable lab errors that could have been prevented with a process management system in place.
-
Moreover, I've come across situations where resource-intensive experiments could have been substituted with a more cost-effective analysis of existing data.
-
I've also seen processes that rely heavily on manual data copy-pasting, which are not only prone to errors but could have been automated for efficiency and accuracy.
These practices not only limit the scope of applying AI in labs but also squander the valuable time of talented lab scientists and technicians. As a data scientist working with lab teams, I advocate for the adoption of digital systems to maximize efficiency, reduce errors, and unlock the full potential of data in laboratories.
